Setting the Stage
Two weeks before kickoff, on October 30, 2019, the Founder convened a press conference in Lagos to unveil the vision: 32 teams, ₦3.5 million prize pool, and institutional partnerships with Lagos State Ministry, LSFA, LSRA, and the Nigeria Football Federation.

The tournament was officially flagged off by Hon. Valentine Briamoh, Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government — a signal that KUTH's grassroots sports model had earned government recognition at the local executive level.

More Than Football — Free Healthcare on Opening Day

While 32 teams prepared for knockout competition, KUTH Foundation deployed its Free Healthcare Project — offering vitals screening and dental care to community members, players, and spectators who might otherwise have no access to preventive health services.
Registration & Documentation
Systematic patient registration with health education materials distribution. Every beneficiary received a file for follow-up tracking.
Vitals Screening
Blood pressure checks and basic health assessment by trained KUTH health workers. Players, coaches, and community members discovered their health status.
Dental Care
In partnership with Smilesdotcom Mobile Dental Care, free dental check-ups under the “Healthy Teeth Campaign.” Professional examination, cleaning consultation, and referral notes.
This was integrated programming — healthcare embedded within sports. Young men who might never visit a clinic got their blood pressure checked while waiting for their match. Community members who came for entertainment left with dental health awareness.

“KUTH Foundation explores soccer, music, talent-hunt, motivational talks, et cetera, as tools to reach out to youths. The tournament is a vehicle used in preaching against societal vices: Drug Abuse, Prostitution, Rape, Cyber Crime, Cultism.”
