KUTH Back-to-School Project
Free GCE Forms & Scholarship Launch — Giving Second Chances to Indigent Students
The Story of Back-to-School 2019
The future of the Nigerian youth — teenage population — is in grave danger. Based on a KUTH Foundation study within Amuwo Odofin LGA, 80% of teenagers who engage in drug addiction, cultism, prostitution, teenage pregnancy, abortion, examination malpractices and rape are secondary school leavers who failed WAEC at their first sitting and whose parents are unable to re-enroll them for GCE due to lack of funds.
“Education is the bedrock for a better future, catalyst for social development and economic emancipation from the shackles of poverty. The best overall result will be offered a scholarship.”
— Engr. Gerald A. Azonobo, Founder/Principal Promoter

The Crisis — "The Future in Danger"
The future of the Nigerian youth — teenage population — is in grave danger. Based on a KUTH Foundation study within Amuwo Odofin LGA, 80% of teenagers who engage in drug addiction, cultism, prostitution, teenage pregnancy, abortion, examination malpractices and rape are secondary school leavers who failed WAEC at their first sitting and whose parents are unable to re-enroll them for GCE due to lack of funds. These teenagers have become willing tools in the hands of societal vices.

The Response — "KUTH Back to School"
In response to this need and to assist in curbing the moral decadence that the society is faced with, the Founder/Principal Promoter of the Foundation, Engr. Gerald A. Azonobo, muted the idea of a back-to-school project to the Foundation's Board of Trustees. 'KUTH Back to School' was approved, in line with the Stay Alive Program which has been ongoing since 2014 in some schools and churches across Lagos State.

The Pilot Launch — "August 21, 2019"
The portal opened August 5 and closed August 19, 2019. 25 students who met the Foundation's criteria were selected. The pilot scheme was flagged off at Frankkids Amusement Park, Festac Town. Students, parents, and community members gathered to witness the launch of this transformative initiative.

The Founder Speaks — "Education is the Bedrock"
Engr. Gerald Azonobo addressed the gathering: 'Education is the bedrock for a better future, catalyst for social development and economic emancipation from the shackles of poverty. The best overall result will be offered a scholarship.' His words resonated with every student present, reinforcing the Foundation's commitment to their future.

Students Listening Intently
The students sat attentively, absorbing every word of encouragement and guidance. Many had faced the disappointment of failing their WAEC exams, and this opportunity represented a second chance at their educational dreams. The room was filled with hope and determination.

Program Director's Message — "Stay Focused"
Prince Francis Chilaka, the Program Director, delivered a powerful message: 'Success is what you want it to be... Your success is your ability to burn candles. Stay focused reading your books.' His practical advice connected with the students who understood the sacrifices needed for academic success.

The Students — "Faces of Second Chances"
These students represent the heart of the Back-to-School project. Each face tells a story of struggle, hope, and determination. They arrived not knowing if they would ever sit for GCE again. They left with forms in hand and fire in their hearts.

Community Response — "Tears of Joy"
The students, parents, teachers and residents of Festac Town could not hold back their tears of joy as they prayed and thanked the Founder/Principal Promoter and his team. This was more than a program — it was a lifeline for families who had lost hope.

The Team — "Those Who Made It Possible"
The event was supported by dedicated team members including Mr. Seun Makanjuola (Big Max), Mr. Akinremi Mustapha (Black Water Records), Mr. Kolade Oladapo (GFX Media), and Mr. Wale Aderoju (Project Coordinator). Their commitment ensured the smooth execution of this pilot program.

The Presentation — "Hope in Their Hands"
The climax of the event was the presentation of GCE forms to the selected students. As each student received their form from the Founder, the significance of the moment was not lost on anyone present. This piece of paper represented a second chance at education, at dignity, at a future free from the grip of societal vices.
