It has become a fad, fashionable even, especially among Next-Generation Nigerian’s to hide under the toga of fighting for their rights, to perpetrate criminality, bloodshed, mayhem, and a myriad of atrocities against the citizenry. I beg to insist that we are getting it all wrong when we embrace violence; criminality and unconscionable living as the solution to our country’s malaise.

Let us take a break and think of such fabled pressure groups as the O’odua People’s Congress (OPC), Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Arewa Youth Movement (AYM) from whose ranks has grown the deadly Bokko Haram Islamite terrorist movement, the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND), Egbesu Boys, et cetera, et cetera.

Sadly as it is every one of these groups or similar groups playing to the same gallery of whimsical chairs claim they are defending the rights of various nationalities of the Nigerian nation, willy-nilly the people’s express consent and urging. Without equivocation, these “nationalists” are most times driven by their greed and selfishness. Challenge any Bokko Haram, OPC, MASSOB, MEND, et cetera operative (field-man, functionary or bomber) on the core agenda of the group and you would draw a blank. Why? These people are puppet! Somebody high and mighty under hiding is busy pulling the strings.

It is equally been rumoured that the scourge of the sectarian aggression interposing peacefulness and security in various parts of the country is the play-up to the ultimate break-up of the Nigerian nation as a people and nation. I hear someone proclaim, “God forbid” so we hope.

It is one month gone already since 200 plus innocent teenage girls where forcefully abducted from their school, Government Girls Secondary School Chibok, Borno State by blood thirsty and trigger happy men of the Bokko Haram group. Sadly, it took the outcry of Nigerians and the international community for the Federal Government to react. The same government that has told us time without number that, Nigeria’s unity, oneness, togetherness, and indivisibility is not negotiable.

Will it be right therefore, to say that government’s understanding of Nigeria’s oneness and indivisibility is as far as it satisfies their clinging onto power, while horning their greed and selfishness. Would the president and any of his cronies have felt unconcerned if any of those abducted girls were per chance his daughter?

It is crystal clear that both the Borno State government and the Federal Government are bent on playing politics with the lives of these children. One would not be completely wrong to say that they have been left to their fates. Little wonder Mr. President in the face of all that is going on right now still embarked on a trip to France, is this a president that cares for those that have given him their mandate?

Now that it seems our #Bringbackourgirls banner is not working, what is the next line of action? Time is not our friend at this point.
